This weekend was pretty quiet around Carlisle. The news broke that we have become a village again. The 2010 consensus put us under the 5,000 mark in population. We have been considered a city for the past 10 years since in 2000 the consensus had the population at 5,121. I have not read that there is anything specific that will change. One Facebook user stated it would be like calling him "sir" or "mister". I think that is fitting. Jim Gross, stated in the Middletown Journal article today, "it might bring us the appearance of a little charm." Really, some may think that this will downgrade our status. And some think that this will potentially enhance our economy with business. My thoughts are that it will remain the same. Last, I checked it is about traffic count anyways. So those of us that would love to see McDonald's, Taco Bell, a grocery store, again will have to wait. Especially, since our population has decreased and the economy still has not recovered.
In sports, our Carlisle Varsity Softball girls destroyed Northridge 27-6. Henry pitched an excellent game moving her record to 2-0, Forrell had 3 RBI's and Sommers added 3 RBI's and a home run. Carlisle moves to 2-4 on the season and 1-4 in league play.
I am sure there is some other things and events that went on that we were not aware of. Once we start gaining sponsorships to hire our reporters then we will continue to grow!
