Here are excerpts from the last City Council Meeting for 2009 on March 24th, 2009. The City is continually looking for ways to improve Carlisle. Provided in the meeting minutes below are some improvements that Council is looking at for 2009.

AN ORDINANCE TO MAKE REAPPROPRIATION/SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATIONS FOR CURRENT EXPRENSES AND OTHER EXPENDITURES FOR THE CITY OF CARLISLE, DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2009, AMENDMENT NUMBER 3, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
Discussion: $2,000 needed for the estimated cost of an expert witness for a court case regarding de-annexation. $2,000 needed for MDC’s unit for the police command vehicle (a portion of the money in the 2008 budget was put back in the reserves and not available for use during 2009 without approved re-appropriation. $15,500 for asphalt/road repair related to the replacement of sewer valves at Marty Lee and Jill. $2,500 is needed for software upgrades that are necessary for improved utility billing. Total appropriation request: $22,000.

Discussion: This ordinance is on for the first reading and will be on for second reading at the next council meeting. This is the second step in the process.
AN ORDINANCE LEVYING SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS FOR LIGHTING OF THE STREETS, LANES AND OTHER PUBLIC WAYS IN THE CITY OF CARLISLE, OHIO WITH ELECTRIC LIGHTING.
Discussion: This ordinance is on for the first reading and will be on for second reading at the next council meeting. This is for recovering 75% of the cost of operating streetlights in the city and 100% of the capital investment in lighting. There were no capital improvements during the calendar year 2008. This is the final step in the process of assessing this item. This year’s assessment’s total $35,901.20.

SAY Soccer will be holding sign-ups for ages 4 to 13 y/o girls and boys! SAY soccer is a fun and exciting time for your little children to get outside and learn the game. Last year, our Carlisle SAY Program sent over 6 teams to the area wide tournament and one team on to state! Season starts early August!
