Carlisle Intermediate students went back in time, Friday, May 8, 2009 to the Civil War era. This past week was Civil War Days at Bob Grigsby Intermediate School. The students had many different lessons through the course of the day. Tom Porter taught the students about weaponry used during the war, the students chatted with Abe Lincoln, and chowed down on some rations that kept the soldiers fed.

There is a complete article in the Middletown Journal here. The students capped off the days events by watcing the re-enactors from the 5th Ohio Light Artillery and 24th Ohio Volunteer Infantry take to the battlefield and fire off a cannon.

The students saw first hand the dangers of the war, the diet of the soldiers, and the trials that the people of that era endured during the Civil War.
